Lucy
Lucy Rosenstein - Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist
Professional Experience
Lucy is Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience working across state and private primary and secondary schools, as well as in a specialist adolescent mental health service.
Lucy’s core training is psychodynamic, but she believes that it is important to have a range of tools and think carefully about what level of work and approaches are most appropriate for the child or young person in the room with her, instead of trying to fit everyone into one particular way of working. She is committed to continuous development, both as a professional and as a human being, and is always curious to learn more. She is particularly drawn to ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) and CFT (Compassion-Focussed Therapy) as they both are grounded in mindfulness and self-compassion. Her approach is informed by neuroscience, attachment theory and is trauma-aware.
Lucy has completed extensive additional training, most recently earning a Specialist Diploma in Neurodiversity-Informed Practice. She is passionate about working with neurodivergent young people and their families in an affirmative, experience-sensitive, and empowering way.
She offers assessments, individual therapy (short-term and long-term) and parent consultations. In schools, she provides supervision and workshops for professionals, including teachers and pastoral staff.
More about me
I am deeply passionate about helping children and young people build a healthy relationship with themselves. I believe that many mental health challenges stem from self-criticism and inner conflict. My career has always been dedicated to young people—first as a university lecturer and now as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in warmth, unconditional acceptance, curiosity, and respect. I do not see therapy as something done to people; rather, I believe healing is a co-creative process where each individual is the expert on their own experience. The same principle guides my work with parents, honouring their expertise and agency.
I take a holistic approach to therapy, focusing not just on alleviating symptoms but on healing relational wounds and fostering understanding and meaning.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). Additionally, I regularly review for the Children, Young People & Families Journal of the BACP.
