Specialist ADHD Assessments

Gold Standard Assessments for Under and Over 18s

We only offer Gold Standard Assessments following National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the Royal College of Psychiatrist Guidance and Standards. For Over 18s, we have recently reviewed our processes to meet and exceed ‘The adult ADHD assessment quality assurance standard’ (Adamou et al., 2024) to ensure we provide the highest quality ADHD assessment service.

Under 18s

For under 18s, the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will review detailed clinical forms from home and school that we have sent prior to the assessment. The Psychiatrist will meet with you and your child both together and separately; your child will complete a QB Check. In the Feedback Session, the Consultant Psychiatrist will provide a diagnosis (if applicable), recommendations and collaboratively you will develop a plan. A Report will be provided.

  • We will send you and your child’s school key specialist mental health measures before your meeting and the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will review these before you meet.

  • On the day you will first meet the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist together with your child.

  • The Consultant will then meet you (parents) on your own to allow you time to speak without your child being there.

  • The child or young person will complete a Computerised Assessment looking at signs of hyperactivity, impulsivity and inattention.

  • The Consultant will meet with your child on his/her/their own to get to know your child and to complete a Mental State Assessment.

  • At the end of the assessment period, your Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will put the information together and provide any diagnoses that he/she thinks your child meets. You will agree together a Plan to take forward.

  • You will receive a detailed Report with Recommendations.

Over 18s

For over 18s, the Lead Clinician will review detailed clinical forms that we have sent prior to the assessment. The Clinician will meet with you and conduct a DIVA (a robust clinical interview tool). You will also complete a QB Check (a specialist computerised assessment tool). The Lead Clinician will provide a diagnosis (if applicable), recommendations and collaboratively you will develop a plan. Report provided.
